Search and Rescue of the Northern Adirondacks holds field and skills training the first Wednesday of each month (except July) at 6 p.m. Anyone, of any skill level or interest level, is welcome to attend. If attending a field training, please be prepared to be in the elements for up to two hours.

Active members of SARNAK are required to attend half of all team meetings and trainings each year. Prospective members are required to attend three consecutive training sessions to be considered for membership. Prospective members can contact the training officer to arrange alternative options if three meetings in a row is not possible.

July 28: New York State Federation of Search and Rescue Teams (FEDSAR) meeting

August 1: Type III search training, Coreys Road, Tupper Lake

September 5: Low angle rescue and knots, Pitchoff Mountain East trailhead

October 3: Pack test, corner of Swinyer and Oregon Plains Roads in Vermontville

November 7: Rappelling and rope safety, Paul Smith’s College rock wall

December 5: Carry-out, Giant Mountain (Roaring Brook Falls trailhead)
